# How to bulk add or remove users from teams

Team admins can manage team membership in bulk from the **Members** tab of a team.

This is useful when onboarding a department, updating a large team, or cleaning up membership after an org change.

### Before you start

You need to be a **Team admin** for the team.

Workspace owners and admins can manage any team, even if they are not Team admins.

Only existing workspace members can be added to a team. If someone is not in the workspace yet, invite them to the workspace first.

### Bulk add users to a team

1. Open the team.
2. Go to the **Members** tab.
3. Click **Add members**.
4. In the bulk add section, paste one email address per line.

   Example:

   ```
   alex@company.com
   jordan@company.com
   priya@company.com
   ```
5. Review the summary.

   Tability will show how many emails are ready to add and whether any emails are invalid.
6. Click **Add members**.

Newly added users are added as **Team members** by default.

### Bulk remove users from a team

1. Open the team.
2. Go to the **Members** tab.
3. Use the checkboxes to select the members you want to remove.
4. Click **Remove selected** in the bulk actions toolbar.
5. Confirm the removal.

Selected users will be removed from the team.

### Bulk change team roles

You can also update roles for multiple people at once.

1. Open the team.
2. Go to the **Members** tab.
3. Select the members you want to update.
4. Use the bulk role action to change them to:

   | Role            | Meaning                                      |
   | --------------- | -------------------------------------------- |
   | **Team admin** | Can add/remove members and change team roles |
   | **Team member** | Can view the team but cannot manage members |
5. Confirm the change.

### Last admin protection

Every team must keep at least one **Team admin**.

Tability prevents bulk actions that would remove or demote the last Team admin.

If your own account is included in a bulk removal or role change, Tability may ask you to confirm because you could lose Team admin controls.

### What happens to plan access?

Removing someone from a team may also remove any plan access they had through that team.

For example, if the Product team has **view** access to a restricted plan, removing someone from Product removes their team-based access to that plan.

They may still have access if:

* They have a direct person permission on the plan
* They belong to another team with access
* The plan is visible to everyone in the workspace
* They are a workspace owner or admin
