Editing outcomes/key results

Create and edit objectives and key results in a Tability plan

Tability calls the measurable goals below an objective outcomes. Your workspace may use a custom term such as key results, but the workflow is the same.

You need permission to edit the plan. If Edit content or Edit is not available, ask a plan owner or workspace admin for access. See Plan permissions.

Add objectives and key results in the Plan Editor

1. Open Plans and select the plan.

2. Select Edit content. This opens the Plan Editor.

3. Write an objective in the objective row, then press Tab to add a key result below it.

4. Enter a measurable key result. Press Tab again to add an initiative, or press Shift + Tab to return to the objective level.

5. To insert something elsewhere, select the + button beside an existing item and choose the objective, key result, or initiative option.

6. Select Back to plan dashboard when you are finished. Changes to a published plan are saved as you work.

In the Plan Editor you can select a title to rewrite it, select the avatar to change the owner, or select the target value to open its settings. Select the item's drag handle to open a menu with Edit, move, comment, archive, and delete actions.

Edit a key result from a published plan

There are two current entry points:

• Hover over the key result and select the settings button. Its tooltip is Edit.

• Select the key result title to open its details, then select the ... menu and Edit.

The Edit Key Result panel contains the title, owner, contributors, and these tabs:

• Target — choose the key result type and configure its values.

• Target milestones — set intermediate targets for supported measurable types.

• Advanced — edit the description, tags, weight, and label.

• Data source — connect progress to another system.

• Check-ins API — configure remote progress updates when available.

• Notifications — manage supported notification settings.

Select Save to apply the changes or Cancel to leave them unchanged.

Change the target and key result type

Open the Target tab and choose the type that matches how progress should be measured:

• From X to Y — move from a starting value to a target.

• Stay above X or Stay below X — maintain a threshold and record a baseline.

• Non-measurable — report confidence instead of a numeric score.

• Rollup dependencies — calculate progress from connected key results.

• Initiatives or milestones completed — calculate progress from completed work.

• Measurable without target (legacy) — track a KPI-style measure without a target.

The panel shows only the fields required for the selected type. Numeric formats can include units such as $150/user, NPS 80, or 40 demos, and the example chart previews the result.

Change advanced settings

Open Advanced to update:

• Description — add context, assumptions, or the definition of success.

• Tags — group related key results for filtering and reporting.

• Weight — control how much this key result contributes to its objective. A weight of 2x counts twice as much as 1x; 0x excludes it from the objective score.

• Label — mark the key result as standard, committed, or aspirational when those labels are enabled for the workspace.
